Taiwan to add 300 MW windpower generation

8 November 2004 - Taiwan Power Co. (Taipower) will invest more than NT$10bn ($299m) in developing wind power generation in the next ten years, a company spokesman said Sunday.

The ten-year development plan is part of the state-owed firm's efforts to substantiate the government's eco-friendly "green power generation" policy.

Under the plan, Taipower will install at least 200 wind power generators with a total installed capacity of 300 MW kilowatts, the spokesman said, adding that the wind power generators will first be set up in coastal regions in western
part of the island.
