Siemens wins 18 turbine contracts in Poland and China

4 November 2004 - Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery AB and Siemens Power Generation (PG) have won contracts to supply 18 gas turbines worth more than €300m ($386m) to companies in Poland and China.

In Poland, Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery AB has secured orders from ABB Zamech Gazpetro Sp. z.o.o. for nine gas turbines worth over €90m.

The type GT10B gas turbines are to be used to drive compressors in the Polish section of the Yamal gas pipeline, which links the Yamal peninsula in Siberia with Western Europe.

Six of the 25 MW turbines will be installed this quarter in Szamotuly and Ciechanow. The remaining three machines will be following mid 2005 in Szamotuly.

The order also includes the engineering, and the supervision of erection and commissioning. The Siemens manufacturing plant in Finspong, Sweden will supply the turbines and their control systems.

In China, PG has secured orders to supply nine gas turbines for four combined cycle power plants in China, each owned by a separate Chinese utility.

PG will supply two V94.3A gas turbines for each of the natural gas fired combined cycle plants at Zhengzhou, Xiaoshan and Zhongyuan, and three at the Shidongkou location. They are scheduled for delivery for the second half of 2005.
