Lurgi Lentjes to build plants in Weisweiler

4 November 2004 - Lurgi Lentjes AG will act as the general contractor in the building of plants in the Weisweiler power station in a contract awarded by RWE Power AG.

The two gas turbine plants will be operated in association with the two existing 600 MWe lignite fired units.

Two Siemens type V94.2A gas turbines, with an output of 190 MWe each, will operate in parallel to the existing plants to meet grid requirements placed on mean load and control range.

The total contract value amounts to €130m ($167m). It will be carried out in two stages. The first stage covers permit engineering and the second covers delivery, assembly and commissioning subsequent to permission being granted.

The commissioning of the first gas turbine plant is scheduled for July 2006 with the second a few months later in December 2006.
