Emerson to modernize Israeli plant

4 November 2004 - Emerson Process Management has announced that it has won the contract to modernize the four-unit, 1400 MW Maor David A power station in Hadera, Israel.

The project, to modernize the turbine and boiler feed pump control systems, is part of the effort by Israel Electric Corporation to construct new generation facilities and expand and improve existing plants to meet increased electricity demand.

Under the $2.5m contract, Emerson will install a redundant Ovation turbine control system at each of the four units.

The Ovation system, which will be linked to the plant's existing Emerson WDPF data processing and monitoring system, will monitor and control the steam turbine generator and boiler feed pump turbine, including all safety functions and steam flow control.

In all, the control system will manage more than 8000 hardwired and Ethernet soft points. The new system is scheduled to be operational as follows: Unit 3, December 2004; Unit 2, May 2005; Unit 4, December 2005; Unit 1, June 2006.
