NZ Contact renew Alstom maintenance contract

25 October 2004 - Alstom has signed an operation support and maintenance contract with Contact Energy Ltd. for the Taranaki combined-cycle power plant in New Zealand, which uses Alstom's GT26 advanced gas turbines.

The new contract succeeds an existing maintenance contract expiring in 2006. The scope includes operation support as well as all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities of Taranaki's GT26 gas turbine, including its auxiliaries and control systems. The contract is expected to expire in 2012, depending on the plant's operating regime.

Last year, the plant broke the New Zealand record of 121 days in operation without interruption. Since its last outage in May 2003, the Taranaki power plant has run with an outstanding reliability factor.

The Taranaki combined-cycle power plant is located in Stratford near New Plymouth on the North Island of New Zealand. The plant has been in commercial operation since July 1998.
