14 October 2004 - Alstom and Harbin Power Equipment Company Ltd. (HPEC) have signed a license agreement to provide Wet Flue Gas Desulphurisation technology in the People's Republic of China.
The agreement grants HPEC a license to market, sell and supply Alstom's proprietary open spray tower technology for wet flue gas desulphurisation (WFGD) systems. The agreement became effective on 29 September, 2004. Alstom will provide WFGD technology, engineering, and marketing support to facilitate HPEC's participation in the Chinese WFGD market during the agreement.
"This agreement opens the Chinese market to Alstom's WFGD technology by combining our advanced open spray tower technology with the most experienced power equipment supplier in China. Alstom's advanced WFGD technology for the removal of sulphur dioxide emissions offers removal efficiencies of over 98 per cent. With 38 000 MW in WFGD reference plants, ranging in unit size up to 1300 MW, it is a world leading provider in air pollution control systems.
HPEC is one of the top Chinese power generation manufacturers including being the largest boiler supplier as well as turbines and generators. HPEC is also the oldest power generation supplier in China.
