13 October 2004 - Spice Holdings PLC's meter reading division, Meter-U, has reached an agreement with Siemens to provide meter-reading services in the East of England.

The outsourced service provider to the UK electricity, telecom and water sectors announced that it had won the contract that will initially run until March 2006.

Spice also said that Meter-U has agreed with Siemens to conduct a pilot gas meter reading scheme in the Barnet area of London, which, if successful, could lead to further opportunities in the sector.

The contract is expected to comprise around 5.5 million meter readings per year with an annual turnover in the region of £2.5m.
