12 October 2004 - Nottingham electrical and mechanical firm Vinci Energies United Kingdom plc has bought The Ford Communications and Arthur Ford businesses from administrators Tenon on 1 October, securing 70 jobs at the Nottingham site.
The deal marked the culmination of negotiations between the two companies and the company will continue to offer the same quality service to its well-established client base under the name LB Ford Ltd. David Fisher of Vinci Energies said: "We are delighted to have completed the purchase of the Arthur Ford and Ford Communications businesses. We have long admired the quality and reliability of their work and feel that their electrical installation and IT expertise fits neatly into our core offering, without duplication, so will prove an important addition to our UK business. "The Ford name has a reputation for great service and continuity of customer contact teams. LB Ford Ltd inherits a strong order book and a great client list which includes many blue chip companies. "On top of these strong foundations, the Vinci Group will bring investment, resources and training and an increased capability in areas such as high voltage, control systems and mechanical engineering services. All together it adds up to the perfect mix for a successful future." LB Ford Limited director Trevor Savage added: "The acquisition by Vinci Energies is good news for both clients and staff at the Nottingham site. Vinci have a strong philosophy of working closely with the existing team, which will mean we can maintain the high quality of service for clients both locally and across the UK. "The purchase will also secure the financial future of the company while bringing international experience, transfer of technologies, increased investment and greater resources to our operations. This will improve both our service to clients and the opportunities for our staff." Vinci Energies, which offers clients design, installation and maintenance of electrical and IT systems, employs 500 staff across 13 UK sites and generated revenues of £23m ($41.3m) in 2003. In Europe, it has a workforce of 26 000 across 700 business units and a turnover last year of more than £2bn. It is now predicting a combined turnover of £4bn.
