Kepco to build plant in Java

11 October 2004 - Korea Electric Power Corp. (Kepco) will implement its $350 m investment project to build a 740 MW gas fired plant in Cilegon, West Java, Indonesia.

State owned electricity company, PLN, will construct a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal at the same location, to supply gas to the power plants of Java.

With the soaring oil price, PLN is set to replace or modify its diesel oil powered electricity generation plants to use gas or coal as fuel.

The terminal is expected to be operational by 2007 while the power plant is to be finished by 2009.
