Wärtsilä gains two power plant orders in Mexico

6 October 2004 - Wärtsilä has received two orders for power plants in Mexico. Both are combined heat and power (CHP) plants giving a total output of approx. 32 MW and will be supplied as turnkey contracts. These orders bring the combined capacity of power plants and ship power supplied by Wärtsilä in Mexico to more than 40 MW.

" Wärtsilä's efforts and investments in Mexico are beginning to show positive results," said Frank Donnelly, Vice President, Power Plants of Wärtsilä North America Inc. " Wärtsilä is recognized as the leading manufacturer of gas- and oil-fired engine-based power plants in Mexico and a major ship power and service supplier. Recently we have also opened a new service center in Veracruz."

One of the CHP power plants will be delivered to the Cartones Ponderosa cardboard producer in Querétaro, where it will be used to replace an existing gas turbine plant. The other has been ordered by newsprint producer Pronal in San Luis Potosí.
