New coal-fired power plant to be built in Indonesia

4 October 2004 - The regional administration of East Nusatenggara (NTT) is planning to build a coal fired power plant in Bolok, Kupang district.

A spokesman of the NTT administration, Umbu Saga Anakakasaid the NTT administration has signed a memorandum of understanding with state-owned electricity company PLN, PT Elektrindo Perkasa Utama of Jakarta and PT Indonesia Power to build the power plant.

Umbu said the NTT administration is involved only in providing the location for the power plant.

The construction will be handled by PT Elektrindo Perkasa Utama and Indonesia Power.

Umbu gave no further details about the project.
