VA Tech T & D secures Middle East contracts worth €44m

24 September 2004 - VA Tech Transmission & Distribution (VA Tech T&D) has been awarded two major contracts worth approximately €44m ($54.1m).

For Dubai Electricity & Water Authority VA Tech T&D provides for the extension of the existing VA Tech 400/132kV substation at Najma. The project is scheduled to be completed within 15 months, order value is approximately €15m.

In Qatar, VA Tech has secured a €29m contract from the local electricity utility, Kahramaa, for part of a project known as Phase 5 Development.
The scope of works includes the turnkey supply of one 220kV/66kV substation. In addition to this new substation the scope includes the extension of two existing 132kV substations and minor modifications at an existing VA Tech 220kV substation.
The contract will be completed within 18 months.
