23 September 2004 - China's production of power generating equipment has risen sharply this year, because of severe power shortages across the country, according to the China Machine-Building Industry Federation.

In the first eight months of this year, China's output of power generating equipment reached 40.2286 million kW. This represented a jump of 106.56 per cent as compared to the same period last year. The Jan-Aug production figure is already more than the production achieved for the whole of last year.
