Vestas to dismantle and test Horns Rev nacelles

9 July 2004 - The Danish wind turbines manufacturer Vestas Wind Systems A/S said on Thursday (8 July) that it would dismantle the nacelles of the 80 V80-2.0MW wind turbines of Elsam's Horns Reef offshore wind farm and transport them to its facilities in Ringkobing, Denmark for testing and upgrading.

"As previously informed, Vestas has experienced a series of problems with the operation of the offshore project Horns Reef located in the North Sea, 15 kilometres off the shore near Esbjerg located on the Danish west coast," Vestas said.

"The environment at Horns Reef is harsh and it has been ascertained that all transformers and a number of generators have to be changed," Vestas added.
