Marubeni to upgrade Qatar's power transmission system

7 July 2004 - Marubeni Corporation has been awarded a 6.5 bn yen ($59.3m) contract to upgrade Qatar's power transmission system. The project is to be completed in 21 months.

LG Cable of South Korea will supply the cables for the project, which includes building a substation, laying underground cables between existing substations, and upgrading of the power grid.

Qatar is improving its infrastructure in preparation to host the 2006 Asian Games in the capital city of Doha.
