Russia and Kyrgyzstan considering construction of hydropower station

16 April 2004 - Russia and Kyrgyzstan are considering the possibility of cooperation in constructing a hydropower station on Kyrgyz territory, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov told journalists.

According to him, the two parties have agreed on developing their cooperation in the electric energy sector and on the construction of Kambaratinskaya hydropower station. Fradkov stressed that it was too soon to determine the amount of investments needed for the project.

Currently experts have to implement feasibility studies. After that the two parties may determine their economic interests and necessary amount of investments, he added.
