14 April 2004 - Vogt Power International Inc. (VPI), located in Louisville, KY, a subsidiary of Babcock Power Inc. (BPI), based in Danvers, MA, has announced that it has recently formed a new company, Vogt-Ormis Power S.r.l., in conjunction with Gruppo Ormis SpA (Ormis) to undertake project execution and aftermarket services for HRSGs within Italy.
Concerning the agreement with Ormis, Dr. Marc Horvay, President and CEO of VPI, stated that, "This agreement will allow us to better serve our existing customer base and is in line with VPI's plans to expand its activities into markets outside of the USA. Vogt-Ormis Power gives us the ability to combine our international experience with local sales, manufacturing and services to best serve the Italian market and further enhance our global leadership position for HRSGs." VPI designs, engineers, and fabricates HRSGs for gas turbine sizes ranging from 20 to 265 MW and has units operating in more than 35 countries around the world, including 10 units in Italy. It also offers a full set of aftermarket capabilities and services for any existing HRSG design, regardless of the OEM.
The Ormis Group of companies is located in the region surrounding Brescia, Italy. They serve the chemical, petrochemical, hydroelectric, and power markets including oil, gas and nuclear. Their products and services include steel fabrication, "turn-key" construction, pressure vessel fabrication and hydraulic presses. Diego Penocchio, President & Managing Director of Ormis stated that, " By combining the local marketing knowledge and production capabilities of Ormis with the global experience and technical expertise of VPI, Vogt-Ormis Power will constitute a new, competitive alternative for supplying HRSGs for combined cycle thermal plants in Italy."
