13 April 2004 - Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) plans to build another two modern hydro-power plants in central provinces of Phu Yen and Nghe An, by the end of this month.

They are two out of six projects to be deployed this year, aiming to raise electricity supply to the country as well as ensure enough water for irrigation in dry seasons, said an EVN official.

The two plants with a total investment of VND9944bn, ($632m) are capable of producing annually over 1930 billion kWh of electricity.

Of the investment, over VND2053 billion will be earmarked for equipment and machinery. Each plant includes two turbines with a designed capacity of 220 MW and 320 MW, respectively.
