Korea's Doosan Heavy wins $64m nuclear plant deal in Taiwan

13 April 2004 - Doosan Heavy Industries, the South Korean construction and engineering firm, said Tuesday it has won an order to build piping facilities for Taiwan's nuclear plant project.

The deal signed with Taiwan Power Company calls for Doosan Heavy to supply $64m of core piping facilities for Taiwan's Lungman nuclear plant between January 2005 and February 2006, company officials said.

The under construction Lungman Nuclear Power Project consists of two units, each 1,350 MW, located about 60 km north of Taipei. It will be the country's largest nuclear power plant when it is completed in 2006.

Meanwhile, the mainstay affiliate of the Doosan Group is planning to further strengthen sales of nuclear plant facilities in China and Vietnam.
