EPRIsolutions helps NPPD's Cooper Nuclear Station respond to 'Yellow Tags' with contingency plan

March 22, 2004 -- EPRIsolutions is assisting Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) in preparing a response to two "Significant Operating Experience Reports" (SOERs) on oil-filled transformers recently issued by The Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO).

Both SOERs were issued as "yellow tag" items, requiring "Prompt Attention, Determination of Action Within 150 Days of Issue Date." As such, EPRIsolutions developed a contingency plan for internal inspection of oil-filled transformers at the utility's Cooper Nuclear Station (CNS) to satisfy recommendation 2B of SOER 02-03.

"We sincerely thank EPRIsolutions for all of the help it has provided CNS and NPPD," says G. Alan Bysfield, Sr. Staff Electrical Engineer at the Cooper Nuclear Station, "and we look forward to a continuing relationship with EPRIsolutions as we pursue continuous improvement with our transmission and distribution equipment."

EPRIsolutions has been actively working with utilities to improve switchyard/substation preventive and predictive maintenance practices in response to both SOER 99-01 and 02-03.
