22 March 2004 - VA Tech Transmission & Distribution (VA Tech T&D), an international suppliers of high voltage transmission and distribution systems, has been awarded a contract worth over €14m ($17.2m) by Rosbank Leasing Ltd. for the design, supply, and commissioning of 17 gas-insulated container power circuit breakers for Taymirenergo, one of Rosbank's leasing client.

The Ust Kantayskaya plant to be equipped with the new power circuit breakers is located in Siberia near the town of Snejnogorsk, which poses specific challenges for this project: The extremely low temperatures of the Siberian winter call for outstanding technical product quality, while timely completion of the project is an absolute must as shipments to the North Sea ports are possible only for a relatively short time during the Siberian summer. Deliveries are scheduled to commence in the summer of 2004 and will continue until 2006.

VA Tech T&D aims at becoming one of the leading suppliers in the Russian T&D market.
