Wärtsilä to supply power plants worth $450m to Iraq

18 March 2004 - Wärtsilä yesterday signed two contracts to supply two 341 MW oil-fired power plants to Iraq with a total value of $450m which are the largest power plant orders ever in Wärtsilä's history.

Both power plants will be delivered to the Ministry of Electricity of Iraq close to Baghdad. Each power plant consists of 20 Wärtsilä 46 engines as prime movers, which will be delivered from Wärtsilä's Trieste factory. The delivery will take place during this and next year.
