First POWER-GEN Renewable Energy event proves highly successful

10 March 2004 - America's first all-renewables event, POWER-GEN Renewable Energy ended March 3, 2004, as a tremendous success, attracting more than 900 attendees and 69 exhibitors to its three-day conference and exhibition.

Managed by PennWell Corporation and co-sponsored by the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE), POWER-GEN Renewable Energy brought together a mix of end users and suppliers for an exhibition and concurrent conference program featuring more than 20 sessions and workshops focused on current and future renewable energy hot topics.

"We focused on bringing together buyers and sellers from all the market segments of the renewable energy power niche, so that people could do business," said Richard Baker, Group Publisher of PennWell's Global Energy Group. "This event has well exceeded our expectations."

Event attendance was comprised of end users/buyers from utilities, large projects, governments and individuals; suppliers of renewable energy technology products and services; and a mix of industry associations, organizations, governments, media, finance consultants and others. Additionally, POWER-GEN Renewable Energy attracted an impressive international attendance, including government-backed exhibit floor pavilions from the United Kingdom and Germany, several exhibiting companies from Canada and a strong presence from the Dutch Sustainable Energy Alliance.

According to Michael Eckhart, President of ACORE and Program Committee Co- chair, "Creating the optimal mix of end users and suppliers for a customer- oriented all-renewables trade show has made this event a true success. This is an idea that worked -- and far exceeded our expectations."

In addition to PennWell's strong alliance with ACORE, the following renewable energy associations also supported the event: National Hydrogen Association, National Hydropower Association, New Uses Council, National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), Solar Energy Industries Association, Solar Electric Power Association, Geothermal Energy Association, Alliance of Energy Suppliers, US Energy Association, Clean Fuels Development Coalition, and National Rural Electric Cooperative Association.

POWER-GEN Renewable Energy 2005 is scheduled for March 1-3, 2005 at the Las Vegas Hilton in Las Vegas, Nevada.
