Power plant needs to grow to 90 GW By 2020 as consumption surges

8 March 2004 - According to "Tehran Times", the managing director of the Energy Ministry's Energy Conservation Organization said that Iran will need about 90 GW power plants by 2020.

Abdolreza Karbasi added Iran's power consumption was about 7000 MW in 1978, with a population of about 36 000 000. Karbasi said energy optimization in construction sector could lead to energy saving equal to 5m barrels crude.
