Feb. 4, 2004 -- Washington Group International Inc. announced that it has entered into a teaming agreement with CENfuel FPU LTD in which Washington Group is designated CENfuel's lead engineering, design, and construction consultant for the commercialization of its coal refining technologies.
CENfuel is developing proprietary chemical processes to refine coal and coal waste into value-added carbon products including industrial carbons, activated carbon, silica, and alumina.

"This promising technology may unlock new uses for coal and produce highly pure carbon for high technology applications such as carbon fiber, carbon polymer, and activated carbon for capturing mercury from industrial emissions.
