Technip announces contract award for an 800 MW power plant in Italy

PARIS, Jan. 27, 2004 -- A consortium formed by Va Tech and Technip has been awarded by Energia Molise S.p.A. a turnkey contract, worth more than 300 million Euros (Technip's share 30%), for the implementation of an 800 MW combined cycle power plant at Termoli, Central Italy.

The contract covers the following services: project management, basic and detail engineering, procurement, construction, precommissioning, commissioning, startup and training of owner's personnel. The plant will include two gas turbine generators (Model 9FA) manufactured by General Electric, two heat recovery boilers, one steam turbine generator and the associated balance of plant.

Within the framework of the consortium, Va Tech, based in Vienna, Austria will be mainly responsible for the power island (gas and steam turbines and recovery boilers), DCS and LV/MV substations. Technip's engineering center in Rome will be responsible for the balance of plant, the HV substation and the civil works for the whole plant.

The plant is scheduled to be completed in April 2006.

Energia Molise S.p.A., whose main shareholders are Cir and Verbund, operates on the market of electric power and gas. The Termoli Power Plant represents for Energia the next step in becoming a primary producer of electric power in Italy.

For Technip, which is pursuing its strategic goal to expand its activities in power, this contract represents a significant breakthrough on the expanding market of medium-to-large combined cycle power plants.

With a workforce of about 19,000 persons, Technip ranks among the top five corporations in the field of oil, gas and petrochemical engineering, construction and services. Headquartered in Paris, the Group is listed in New York and Paris. The Group's main engineering and business centers are located in France, Italy, Germany, the UK, Norway, Finland, the Netherlands, the United States, Brazil, Abu-Dhabi, China, India, Malaysia and Australia. The Group has high-quality industrial and construction facilities in France, Brazil, the UK, the USA, and Finland as well as a world-class fleet of offshore construction vessels.
