ATLANTA, Jan. 21, 2004 -- Indus International Inc., a provider of service delivery management solutions, announced that Duke Power has elected to standardize the work management and supply chain systems of its nuclear facilities on the latest enterprise asset management (EAM) software from Indus.
In a multimillion-dollar implementation, the company plans to upgrade their customized work management and inventory control version with a baseline approach, and they also plan to expand the existing product footprint to include the entire supply chain and configuration management functionality. Duke is also collaborating with Indus to add enhancements to PassPort based upon their experience in more than a decade of using the work management product.
Serving approximately 2 million customers in one of the fastest growing regions in the U.S. (Central and Western North Carolina and South Carolina), Duke Power has effectively implemented continuous improvement initiatives to sustain its operational excellence and achieve outstanding performance results.
This fact is demonstrated by the company's history as a three-time recipient of the Edison Electric Institute's prestigious Edison Award as America's No. 1 power company. In order to sustain this leading edge, the company plans to upgrade their older customized version of Indus software with a comprehensive baseline solution included in Indus PassPort Release 10.
Work management and supply chain systems are mission-critical applications for nuclear operations, and they must continue to function reliably and seamlessly in a complex, multi-facility environment. Following an extensive evaluation of their options, Duke decided to invest in Indus EAM solutions to streamline the work processes across their facilities to help meet their high standards for safety, regulatory compliance, fleet management and operational excellence - as well as return on investment.
"This decision by Duke Power, one of the most prominent nuclear generators in the country, continues our momentum in this industry as more and more utility companies standardize on our advanced PassPort solution. Our statistics show that more than 73 percent of all nuclear generators in North America are Indus clients," said John Gregg, president of the Indus Utility Systems business unit. "Indus is the obvious choice for companies like Duke who need the flexibility to tailor business processes at multiple facilities and the scalability to standardize processes across their fleet. An investment in PassPort is an investment in their future."
