Brian C. Griffin elected president of Clean Energy Systems

RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif., Jan. 7, 2004 -- The Board of Directors of Clean Energy Systems, Inc. (CES) announced the election of The Hon. Brian C. Griffin as President and a member of its Board. Griffin's election is part of a company reorganization that took effect January 1, 2004.

Former President Dr. Stephen Doyle has been elected Executive Vice President. Chief Executive Officer Keith Pronske and Board Chairman Dr. Harry Brandt remain in their current positions.

Griffin previously served two terms as Oklahoma Secretary of Environment under Governor Frank Keating, and is currently the Federal Representative to the Southern States Energy Board; appointed by President George W. Bush.

His past appointments have included being Chairman of the Administrative Conference of the United States during both the George H.W. Bush and Clinton Administrations. He also served as a senior official at the United States Department of Justice, and is a former representative to the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission.

Prior to his public service, Griffin was Executive Vice President and General Counsel of a New York Stock Exchange listed oil and gas exploration and production company, and was an adjunct professor at the University of Oklahoma.

"We believe Brian's valuable addition to the CES team will allow us to expand our opportunities to develop and implement full commercialization of pollution free power," said CEO Keith Pronske.

CES is a privately held energy technology innovations firm, working to produce power without pollution. The company has developed technology allowing for the combustion of fossil fuels to produce electricity with zero emissions. CES has received technology development funding from the federal Department of Energy and is receiving continuing funding for development of a demonstration plant from the California Energy Commission. Initial power production is expected in the latter part of 2004.
