POWER-GEN Middle East issues Call for Papers - Deadline approaching

Abstract Submission Deadline: 27 February 2004

17 December 2003 - The deadline for submitting paper abstracts for POWER-GEN Middle East - the leading power generation, transmission, distribution and desalination conference & exhibition in the MENA region - is Friday 27 February. The conference and exhibition is to be held in Bahrain 13-15 September , 2004.

Provisional conference topics are listed below. The topics have been grouped into a number of sub-categories within the Technical and Strategic tracks that will be offered at the conference.

If you are interested in speaking at the POWER-GEN Middle East 2004 conference, you are now invited to submit an abstract for consideration. This is a fantastic opportunity to share your knowledge and ideas, and gain recognition as a leader in the rapidly expanding Middle East power generation and desalination industries.

Abstract Content Requirements & Guidelines
A committee of 25 industry-leading professionals comprises the Programme Advisory Board of POWER-GEN Middle East. The Board is responsible for selecting the content of the conference from submitted abstracts. The Committee will consider the following criteria when reviewing and selecting abstracts for inclusion in the POWER-GEN Middle East 2004 programme:
1. Paper presentations or panel discussions should include:
* Commercially viable new technologies that are applicable to the power generation, transmission & distribution and related desalination industries.
* Case histories of applications that have been successfully backed by supporting data.
* Strategies that apply to changes in the power generation and desalination industries.
* Technical solutions to problems, industry trends, strategies and regulatory compliance.
5. Presentations must be of interest to a broad audience and not restricted to a highly specialised constituency.
6. The Programme Advisory Board is responsible for the content of the conference programme and their judgements on submitted abstracts are final. Abstracts are chosen on their strength, content matter and market/trend relevance
7. Sales presentations will not be accepted.
8. Content of presentations must be of relevance to the Middle East region.

Abstract Submittal Requirements and Guidelines
Authors who submit a paper for possible inclusion in the POWER-GEN Middle East 2004 conference programme must meet certain obligations and adhere to requirements. Submittal rules/styles apply.
Please pay close attention to the following requirements:
- No abstracts will be accepted after the 27 February 2004 deadline.
- Abstracts must be submitted in supplied format sample (see below) for consideration. If not submitted following these guidelines your abstract will not be considered for selection.
- Provide names, job titles, companies, addresses, phone/fax numbers and e-mail addresses for the primary contact, all authors, and speakers.
- Designate a primary contact responsible for meeting all deadlines and obligations. See Primary Contact notes below.
- Designate the actual speaker/presenter of the paper.
- Carefully format the abstract in accordance with the provided guidelines and sample.
- The abstract must be 300-400 words, no longer than one page, single-spaced and non-commercial.
- Set all margins at 1-inch (top, bottom, left and right).
- Format the abstract title in all caps, bold face print, 14-pt. Times New Roman font and centred.
- Format the abstract text in 12-pt. Times New Roman font throughout the text. Bold, underline and italic type styles may be used.
- Indicate, on the abstract itself, whether it is intended for the Technical or Strategic track and the best-suited sub-category for the abstract.
- Indicate on the abstract itself if it has/has not been previously presented. If yes, indicate when and at which conference
- Receipt of abstracts will be confirmed via e-mail.
- All primary contacts will be notified in writing as to whether or not the abstract was accepted no later than Friday, 14th May 2004.
- Abstracts must be saved in Word 6.0 or 7.0 and submitted by e-mail to paperspgme@pennwell.com. Please include your abstract as an attachment in Word 6.0 or 7.0 (preferable method). We are unable to accept faxed abstracts.
Please note:
All the above requirements should be followed to avoid possible disqualification from the evaluation process.
In submitting an abstract you are indicating your willingness to attend and present a paper at POWER-GEN Middle East 2004, if selected.
PRIMARY CONTACT RESPONSIBILITIES

1. By participating in POWER-GEN Middle East 2004, the Primary Contact is responsible for meeting deadlines and requirements regarding complete abstract details, as well as completed manuscripts, registration forms, audio-visual forms and biographical forms if paper is accepted.
2. Primary Contact must agree to submit a final manuscript by Friday, 30th July 2004 for inclusion in the CD-ROM conference proceedings.
3. Primary Contact must notify conference management of any changes, additions, or corrections in author/co-author information, as well as the paper title or availability to present paper.
4. One complimentary three-day delegate registration per paper will be awarded. Unless specified, this will be awarded to the person listed as the Primary Contact.


ORGANISER NOTIFICATION TO PRIMARY CONTACT

Acknowledgement of receipt of abstracts will be e-mailed/faxed throughout submittal process. Abstracts received after 27 February 2004 will be acknowledged, but will only be held for replacement purposes. They will not be added to submittals for consideration in the selection process.
All primary contacts will be notified in writing no later than Friday, 14th May 2004 as to whether their abstract has been accepted for presentation at POWER-GEN Middle East 2004 Conference.
