Boiler Tube Co. of America receives order for Iraq


Burlington, MA, Dec. 9, 2003 -- Boiler Tube Company of America (BTA), located in Lyman, SC, a subsidiary of Babcock Power Inc. (BPI), based in Burlington, MA, announced that it received an order from the U. S. Government, CPA - Contracting Activity, Baghdad, Iraq for replacement pressure parts for boilers in Iraq.

BTA will be furnishing loose seamless tubing, elbows, and membrane-type waterwall panels for use in the reconstruction of existing power boilers in Iraq. All equipment furnished will meet ASME code requirements.

BTA was awarded this order through a competitive bidding process. Along with its competitive price, BTA was selected due to its ability to arrange for expeditious delivery of all necessary tubing to its manufacturing facility through its reliable network of tubing vendors, and its ability to adjust its existing shop loading to accommodate the specified schedule to manufacture the waterwall panels.

BTA has designed, fabricated and installed replacement pressure parts and components for boilers of all sizes and designs since 1918. In addition to boiler pressure parts, BTA is also one of the USA's leading manufacturers applying weld overlay on tubes to provide protection against erosion and/or corrosion utilizing a patent-pending full-function robotic system. Furthermore, BTA can also furnish IMTEC access doors, sootblower replacement parts, port rodders and laminar air flow registers.

BPI, through its subsidiaries, is a worldwide supplier of technology, equipment, and services to the power generation industry.

In addition to the products and services furnished by BTA, BPI designs, manufactures and services heat recovery steam generators through its Vogt Power International subsidiary located in Louisville, KY, provides heat exchangers and after market services associated with such heat exchangers, including moisture separator reheaters, steam surface condensers and feedwater heaters for fossil-fired and nuclear plants through its TEI subsidiary located in Los Angeles, CA, and furnishes steam generators, environmental solutions (including SCRs, scrubbers and mercury removal systems), and after market solutions to the electric utility and waste-to-energy industries through its environmental and services subsidiaries located in Worcester, MA.
