Eight firms eye Mexico Tuxpan V plant contract

4 November 2003 - Eight firms have shown interest in biding for the contract to build the 431-527MW Tuxpan combined cycle thermoelectric plant in Mexico, according to a source with state power company CFE, according to a report by Business News Americas.

The eight groups purchased bidding rules by the October 31 deadline for the project in Mexico's Veracruz State, a source. The source characterized the interest as "good," and said large international companies that frequently participate in such contracts are involved, though it declined to name them.

Technical offers will be opened November 6, and economic offers will be revealed December 11. The contract winner will build and operate the plant, selling energy to CFE for 25 years.
