HOUSTON, Oct. 24, 2003 -- Invensys, a provider in production management solutions, and Verano, Inc., a provider of cyber-security management and control solutions for mission-critical industrial operations, have agreed to jointly market Verano's Industrial Defender™ Watch.
Invensys will resell, implement and support Industrial Defender Watch, as part of a comprehensive industrial security solution for I/A Series system users.
Verano's Industrial Defender Watch is designed to consolidate the monitoring and detection of potential security breaches to the control network, including control system applications, servers, firewalls, as well as other security devices. It will play a key role in Invensys' comprehensive security solution for I/A Series systems.
"Verano's Industrial Defender Watch is unique in that it offers the only available real-time security monitoring technology specifically designed for mission-critical industrial control systems," said John Eva, vice president/general manager customer service and support at Invensys Process Systems.
"The design of our I/A Series system provides a high degree of inherent protection against external threats," Eva added. "The utilization of Verano's best-in-class control system security technology, other security products and Invensys-provided management and technology services, will help to further minimize the potential cyber-security threats to mission-critical I/A Series applications."
Until now, mission-critical industries, including power generation, energy distribution, water treatment, process control, waste handling and mass transit systems, have not benefited from a comprehensive industrial control system security monitoring and control solution. Initial steps have been undertaken to deploy commercially available off-the-shelf enterprise security solutions offering a first line of defense.
However, a comprehensive solution must include a variety of isolation technologies combined with monitoring and notification systems. Failure to deploy suitable technology that serves the function of monitoring, detection and notification of security events, leave plant personnel unaware of compromises that can jeopardize the availability and reliability of their systems and assets.
"Working with Invensys represents a global opportunity for joint deployment of best-in-class industrial cyber-security management solutions specifically addressing increasing concerns over the vulnerabilities and business impact of compromised industrial control systems," said Brian Ahern, president and CEO of Verano. "Recent publicized events, coupled with pending compliance requirements in all mission-critical industries, are driving the immediate need for comprehensive security solutions, including real-time security management solutions for the industrial control environment."
