E.ON completes Czech Republic power swap

30 September 2003 - E.ON today announced the completion of its acquisition of the shares in JME and JCE, regional utilities operating in the southern Czech Republic, formerly been held by CEZ, the Czech utility, and Energie AG of Austria.

The public tender offer to JME and JCE's other minority shareholders was also completed. E.ON now owns 85.5 per cent of JME and 84.6 per cent of JCE, both of which will become fully consolidated E.ON companies effective 1 October 2003.

Together, they provide 1.4 million customers with around 12 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity per year and have a roughly 24-per cent share of the Czech power market.

Also today, E.ON completed the divestment of its minority stakes in the regional utilities ZCE and VCE to the Czech utility CEZ.
