Westinghouse appoints 3 fellow engineers

PITTSBURGH, Sept. 24, 2003 -- Westinghouse Electric Company announced the appointment of Arnold Fero, Steve Byrne and Tom Lytle to the position of fellow engineer. The appointments are part of an ongoing program to assure Westinghouse maintains its commitment to technology leadership within the commercial nuclear power industry.

"A key element of our global success is our technical expertise," said Steve Tritch, CEO and president of Westinghouse Electric Company. "Through mentoring, teaching and advising, technical leaders are responsible for driving innovation and new technology across the company in their areas of expertise, supporting product marketing on a consultative basis, and providing technical advice to Westinghouse management at all levels. By advancing and effectively applying Westinghouse technology, our technical leaders are instrumental in enabling us to create success for our customers and sustain our business for the long term."

Fero is contributing extensively to the fields of complex, three-dimensional radiation analysis and passive radiation detection analysis; Byrne is making outstanding contributions in the field of materials, concentrating on reactor pressure vessels and reactor core internals issues; and Lytle is exceptionally contributing in the fields of instrumentation and control, electrical power engineering, and computer interfacing with manufacturing process.

Westinghouse business units - Nuclear Fuel and Nuclear Services - nominated Fero, Byrne and Lytle based on their demonstrated technical expertise and leadership. The Westinghouse Technical Leader Review Committee, consisting of senior technical leaders from across the company, extensively reviewed and approved the nominations.
