James Rossi joins KEMA as vice president

BURLINGTON, Mass., Sept.. 24, 2003 -- James V. Rossi joined KEMA in September 2003 as the Vice President of the Power Generation and Sustainables group. Rossi will lead the strategic growth of the energy consulting firm's conventional and renewable power generation services in the North American energy market.

Rossi is taking over the lead of KEMA's US business development strategy, focusing on providing utility and energy industry clients with a range of generation-based consulting services including: coal- and gas-fired plant performance improvements, inspection and condition assessments, renovation and service life extension, environmental management, wind power development, and waste and biomass management.

He brings to KEMA over 30 years engineering and managerial experience in the power generation industry, with specific technical expertise with combined cycle, fluidized bed and coal fired power plant projects. In addition to his technical expertise, Rossi is experienced in general management, project development, business development, marketing, and project management. Throughout his career, Rossi successfully developed and implemented strategies that supported the business and financial objectives of his clients and negotiated and structured multi-million dollar project and service transactions.

Prior to joining KEMA, Rossi was the co-founder and principal of Standish Energy, Inc., a Massachusetts-based electric power development company. He also established a long career with Boston-based Stone & Webster Incorporated, where he served as president of the firm's development corporation and as vice president of domestic and international business development for the firm's engineering and construction operations. Rossi earned a B.S in Mechanical Engineering at the Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and began his career in the energy industry engineering and designing gas turbine test facilities for Pratt & Whitney Division of the United Technologies Company.

KEMA's Netherlands-based power generation and sustainables consultants have been supporting clients in North America for a number of years. Seeing excellent opportunities for growth and expanded client service offerings in the United States, KEMA established new offices in Fairfax, Virginia and Houston, Texas in early 2003 under the leadership of KEMA Technical Director Ton Verkuyl. Verkuyl recently retired after a long and distinguished career with KEMA.
