Allegheny Energy announces change to board of directors


HAGERSTOWN, Md., Sept. 24, 2003 -- Allegheny Energy Inc. announced that Wendell F. Holland resigned from its Board of Directors, effective Sept. 17, to assume his new position as a Commissioner with the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC).

Holland, 51, has served on the Allegheny Energy Board of Directors since 1994. Nominated to the PUC by Gov. Edward G. Rendell, Holland was unanimously confirmed by the State Senate on September 16 and sworn in to office on September 19. Holland previously served as a PUC Commissioner from 1990 to 1993, and prior to that as a Judge.

I wish him the best in his new role and am certain that he will serve the citizens of Pennsylvania well during his tenure on the Commission," said Paul J.
