Sept. 24, 2003 -- ALSTOM has recently received the final Notice to Proceed from Edison S.p.A. to supply two Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSGs) for the Torviscosa (UD) Combined Cycle Power Plant in Italy.
The project site is located in the north-eastern Italian region of Friuli, which borders on Austria and Slovenia. The total output of the power plant will produce some 800 MWe, with completion scheduled for December 2005.
The order for these two HRSGs is part of an Edison S.p.A. global contract awarded to ALSTOM in Italy in June 2002 for the supply of five identical 400 MW natural circulation HRSGs for combined cycle power plants located at three different Italian sites. The combined cycle units are all scheduled to enter operation in 2005, with the total power capacity of 2,000 MWe for the three sites. The triple pressure with reheat HRSGs are designed for GE Frame 9FA gas turbines. ALSTOM's scope of supply includes the design, engineering, supply, delivery, erection and commissioning of the HRSGs.
As part of this same global contract ALSTOM is also supplying two HRSGs that will be erected at Altomonte (CS), Calabria, Southern Italy, and a further HRSG at Candela (FG) in the region of Puglia. Project completion for Altomonte and Candela is scheduled for March 2005 and December 2005 respectively.
ALSTOM's industry-leading experience with large advanced-cycle HRSG designs contributed to Edison's selection of ALSTOM to design and supply these five units.
