Encorp provides equipment for RealEnergy on-site generation projects in California and New Jersey

WINDSOR, Colo., Sept. 17, 2003 -- Encorp, which develops and markets services and products for the communication, control and networking of distributed energy, will provide utility interconnect and digital-paralleling switchgear, controls and communication software for two on-site, combined-heat-and-power projects in San Francisco and New Jersey.

RealEnergy, the largest provider of on-site power systems for the commercial real estate industry, selected Encorp Generator Power Controls™, Utility Power Controls™ and Communication Processor Modules for owned-and-operated energy systems at 595 Market St., in San Francisco, Calif., and Park 80 West in Saddlebrook, New Jersey.

Stewart & Stevenson will provide the combined-heat-and-power system for RealEnergy at the San Francisco site.

RealEnergy's on-site generation system at Tower Realty's 31-story, 408,000 square-foot office building in San Francisco's financial district, will provide approximately 83 percent of the building's electric needs, 88 percent of hot-water needs and 26 percent of chilled water needs.

As with all RealEnergy systems, the local utility will provide the remaining power needs.

The on-site combined-heat-and-power system will feature three 375-kilowatt and one 280-kilowatt Waukesha natural-gas engine-generator sets that include Encorp Generator Power Controls™ -- or Gold Boxes -- and Utility Power Controls™.

Encorp also will provide its Communication Processor Module, which provides the communication link and transmits e-mail alarms to system operators if a generator runs abnormally or if pre-scheduled maintenance is required. The CPM also will capture electric, gas-fuel and thermal-energy parameters that RealEnergy's Operations Center will use to monitor the project's economic return on investment.

RealEnergy's on-site generation system at Park 80 West in Saddlebrook, New Jersey, will supply approximately half of the electricity for Transwestern Investment Company's 488,000 square-foot, two-building office complex. The system will feature an 820-kilowatt Caterpillar natural-gas engine generator that also will provide a significant portion of the complex's heating and cooling requirements.

Like the San Francisco project, Encorp will provide its Generator Power Control™ and Communication Processor Module. In addition, Encorp's Virtual Maintenance Monitor™ software will allow RealEnergy operators to continuously monitor and control the system from RealEnergy's Operations Center.

RealEnergy has added Encorp to its list of approved providers of energy-management control software and digital switchgear for future projects.

About Encorp

Encorp, which Platts Research and Consulting said "provides the broadest spectrum of hardware and software controls specifically designed to support distributed generation operations," has engineered services, software and hardware for the distributed-energy industry since 1994.

Its latest offering is the Energy Management Center, a monitoring, alarming and reporting service that ensures engines, generators and other distributed-energy assets used for standby, peak shaving or co-generation applications run at peak efficiency.

In addition to its Virtual Maintenance Monitor™ software, Encorp also offers Virtual Power Plant™ software that allows local and remote communication with multiple gensets and other distributed-energy assets. The company also manufactures the well-known "Gold Box" or Generator Power Control™, digital paralleling switchgear and more.
