17 September 2003 - Japan's Marubeni Corporation plans to start full-scale sales of propane-powered fuel cells in 2005. The company is a sales agent for the fuel cells produced by Plug Power Inc. after forging an alliance with the US firm in September 2002.

In July this year, Plug Power began to ship samples of its first propane-powered fuel cell system, the GenSys P. The propane-powered system meets the needs of businesses and residents in rural areas that are not connected to gas lines.
