Wood Group rotary electrical company enhances support for Eastern Hemisphere electrical generator operators


July 24, 2003 -- Wood Group Rotary Electrical Company Ltd is expanding its generator service, repair and rewind, and coil manufacture operations, and is re-locating to a new 35,000 sq ft facility in Sheffield, United Kingdom to enhance its services for electrical generator operators in the Eastern Hemisphere.

Part of Wood Group's Gas Turbine Services business, Wood Group Rotary Electrical Company is also doubling its generator rotor lifting capacity to 60 tonnes in the new facility.

Wood Group Rotary Electrical Company Managing Director, Ian Walker, explained the move: "The generators we overhaul have typically been in the 10-60MW range. Since being acquired by Wood Group in 2002, we have experienced a significant increase in demand for services for larger generators in excess of 60MW. Expanding our workshop space and capacity will enable us to undertake contracts for electrical generators of all makes, models and sizes. Wood Group Rotary Electrical Company expects to be fully operational in its new premises by September 2003."
