23 July 2003 - The D'ray Hlinh II hydroelectricity plant will become the first within the Vietnam electricity sector to operate like a joint stock company, according to plant investor Electricity Company No 3.
The plant is being built on Se Re Poc River in Ea Po Commune with an investment of VND243bn ($15.8m).
Of the sum, nearly VND30bn is supplied by Electricity Company No. 3, VND70bn from the province's people, and the remainder from local banks.
Construction kicked off on the hydroelectricity plant in the Tay Nguyen (Central Highlands) province of Dac Lac's Chu Jut District last Saturday, which will become the province's second power plant after Dray Hlinh I.
D'ray Hlinh II's two turbines are designed with a combined capacity of 16MW to generate 85 million kWh a year.
The builders, Construction Company No. 470 and the Irrigation Construction Company No. 24, expect the plant to be operational by early 2005, after which time it should connect into the national electricity grid.
