NRC to discuss possible link between nuclear plant uprates and cracking

July 18, 2003 -- Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff will meet with GE Nuclear Energy and the Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) Owners Group on July 25 in Rockville, Md., to discuss the possible impact on future BWR power uprates, due to cracks in the steam dryer of Quad Cities Nuclear Power Plant, Unit 2, near Moline, Illinois.

The meeting will be held in room T-2B3 of the NRC's Two White Flint building, 11545 Rockville Pike, from 1 until 2:30 p.m. Meeting topics will include analysis of failure modes and effects, as well as screening criteria. Members of the public will have opportunities to comment and discuss the issues with NRC staff during the meeting.
