18 July 2003 - Just over a year after E.ON's acquisition of UK energy supplier, Powergen, the German utility has announced that it had "nearly completed the integration process".
The announcement said that Ed Wallis, currently deputy chairman and chief executive officer (CEO), Hans Michael Gaul, Hans-Dieter Harig, Frank Elsässer, Tom Oates and Peter Wilson would leave the Board with immediate effect.
The exit of former Powergen executives leaves Wulf H. Bernotat as chairman, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Michael Söhlke, Powergen UK CEO Paul Golby and LG&E Energy CEO Victor A. Staffieri.
Bernotat thanked those members leaving the Board for their contribution to the successful integration of Powergen into the E.ON Group. Ed Wallis has been the guiding force in the company's development since 1989. It was in this period that Powergen transformed itself from a government-owned generating company to a leading privately held energy supplier in the liberalized UK energy market.
Wallis will remain a member of the E.ON Energie Supervisory Board until the end of 2003.
