18 June 2003 - Spanish wind power company Gamesa said has announced a €60m ($70.90m) contract to supply 74 generators to wind farm operator Ibereólica in Spain.
The wind generators, which will be installed in two wind farms in northwest Spain from July onwards, will produce 850 kW of energy each, Gamesa said in a filing with securities regulators CNMV.
Gamesa, the world's third largest wind turbine maker behind Vestas of Denmark and Enercom of Germany, said the agreement signalled the start of co-operation "with a company with ambitious growth plans in the wind sector."
Spain, with more than 4800 MW of wind energy capacity installed, overtook the United States last year to become the second-biggest wind energy producer after Germany.
Earlier this month Gamesa agreed to the buy the renewable energies unit of Spain's top utility Endesa for €120m.
