Doosan Heavy wins Korean orders worth $34.1m

23 December 2002 - Doosan Heavy Industries and Construction today said it has clinched orders for power plant condensers worth a combined 41bn won ($34.11m) from two local companies.

A 34bn won order for an atomic power plant under the control of the Korean Peninsula Energy Development Organization [KEDO] came from the Korea Electric Power Corp. and another 7bn order for a thermal power plant in Dangjin, South Chungcheong Province from Korea East-West Power Co., the local builder said.

A condenser is a device to cool steam emitted from turbines into liquid, one of the essential components of a power plant. Under the turnkey based project, Doosan Heavy will be responsible for all stages of the project from designing and procurement to construction. The condenser for KEDO will be transferred to KEPCO in late July 2006, while that for the Dangjin thermal power plant will be transferred in late December 2004.
