Dominion signs 5-year contracts with North Carolina towns Black Creek, Lucama, Stantonsburg and Sharpsburg

RICHMOND, Va., July 5, 2002 -- Dominion on Friday announced new five-year electric power contracts with four North Carolina towns - Black Creek, Lucama, Stantonsburg and Sharpsburg. The contracts were negotiated through Dominion's subsidiary, the Dominion Energy Clearinghouse.

Under the terms of the contracts, Dominion North Carolina Power will continue to provide all the electric power for the towns. For Sharpsburg, the new contract begins January 1, 2003. For the other three towns, the contracts begin February 1, 2003. Combined, the four towns currently use about 75,000 megawatt hours a year.

"We are pleased to continue our long relationship with the fine towns of Black Creek, Lucama, Stantonsburg and Sharpsburg," said Kevin Howell, president of Dominion Energy Clearinghouse. "The five-year contracts help us continue to participate in the long-term stability and economic health of these communities."

The Dominion Energy Clearinghouse, headquartered in Richmond, Va., buys and sells electricity, natural gas, fuel oil, coal and emission allowances, and provides a full range of asset management services.

It is a subsidiary of Dominion, one of the nation's largest producers of energy with a production capability of more than 3 trillion British thermal units of energy per day and a power generation portfolio of nearly 24,000 megawatts. Dominion serves 3.9 million franchise natural gas and electric customers in five states, including North Carolina.
