GE Contractual Services selects Bowne Global Solutions for critical power plant documentation

PARSIPPANY, N.J., June 27, 2002 -- Bowne Global Solutions (BGS), a provider of globalization/localization and technical writing services, announced recently that it has been awarded a contract to provide an interactive and electronic, technical manual and plant schematics handbook for the operation and maintenance of GE Power Systems' Baglan Power Station Project in Port Talbot, South Wales.

GE Contractual Services awarded the contract to BGS based on its ability to provide operating and maintenance documentation solutions for complex power generating plants within established project parameters. BGS' experienced technical writing group, which is based in the UK and has been specializing in power plant documentation since 1966, will oversee the engagement.

"The Baglan Power Station project has the potential to set new efficiency standards in power production," said Bruce Heppenstall, O&M Engineering Manager at GE Contractual Services. "It is important to us that all of our suppliers have in depth knowledge of this business, and BGS has already demonstrated that it has."

Baglan Power Station comprises a combined cycle gas turbine plant of 480-megawatt and a combined heat and power plant of 33-megawatt. This is the first power plant to use the world's largest gas turbine, the GE 9H. The H System™ will provide the highest efficiency and lowest emissions from a combined-cycle gas turbine plant anywhere in the world. The combined heat and power plant uses the proven aeroderivative GE LM2500 gas turbine.

"The reputation BGS has developed in the power industry was a critical factor in our ability to demonstrate the necessary expertise for this project," said Bill Harney, Business Development Manager - Power at BGS. "Being involved in this GE Power Systems' plant allows us to maintain specialized knowledge of the latest industry innovations."
