PITTSBURGH, June 13, 2002 -- BNFL and Westinghouse announced that Steve Tritch will become Westinghouse's new President and CEO.
Tritch is replacing current Westinghouse President, Dr. Charlie Pryor, who will relocate to the UK to head BNFL's new Nuclear Utilities Business Group.
Both appointments are effective July 1.
The new group will include Westinghouse and the commercial operations of BNFL's UK-based Spent Fuel and MOX fuel businesses and the related transport businesses.
The moves are part of a high-level BNFL restructuring that will align BNFL into two business groups: Nuclear Utilities and Government Services.
In making the announcement, BNFL and Westinghouse executive management emphasized that Westinghouse would continue to operate in its current structure with no impact on any of the company's worldwide operations.
Dr. Pryor joined Westinghouse in 1997 as president of Westinghouse Energy Systems, part of the former Westinghouse Electric Corporation. In 1998, he helped identify and facilitate BNFL as the purchaser of the Westinghouse Nuclear businesses from what had then become CBS Corporation.
Tritch, who joined Westinghouse in 1971, was most recently Senior Vice President of Westinghouse Nuclear Fuel where he was responsible for nuclear fuel fabrication, components and services provided by Westinghouse to commercial nuclear power plants throughout the world.
Immediately before that, he was Integration Team Leader responsible for the successful merger of the former ABB nuclear businesses into Westinghouse Electric Company. Before that, he was Senior Vice President of Westinghouse Nuclear Services where his responsibilities included engineering and field services for operating nuclear plants.
Tritch holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and an M.B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh. He is a member of the American Society of Nuclear Engineers and serves on the Nuclear Strategy Issues Committee at the Nuclear Energy Institute.
Replacing Tritch as Senior Vice President of Westinghouse Nuclear Fuel will be Mike Saunders, most recently vice president of Westinghouse's European Fuel Operations. He will relocate to the Pittsburgh area from Springfields in the United Kingdom.
Westinghouse Electric Company LLC, wholly owned by BNFL plc, offers a wide range of nuclear plant products and services to utilities around the world, including fuel, spent fuel management, service and maintenance, nuclear automation, and advanced nuclear plant designs. Westinghouse supplied the world's first commercial pressurized water reactor nuclear power plant in 1957 and has designed the world's largest installed base of operating nuclear power plants. www.westinghouse.com
