May 31, 2002 -- Invvision Development Inc. has signed an agreement creating a strategic alliance with Energy Transfer Group, LLC for the purpose of jointly developing electricity generation plants in ventures with federally-recognized Native American Tribes throughout the Southwest.
Larry K. Akins, Invvision Development president, stated that the alliance "will enable the two companies to pursue opportunities providing economic empowerment to Native American Tribes." The initial project is slated to be a venture with a New Mexico Tribe, and future projects are currently under negotiation with tribes in southeast Texas, Oklahoma and northern California. Akins further stated that over the next twenty-four months, he anticipated the alliance "will construct a minimum of one thousand megawatts of electricity generation capacity in Indian Country."
Charlie Waters, Energy Transfer Group partner, stated, "This is a win-win venture for both companies. It creates another avenue for Invvision in its pursuit of opportunities providing positive economic stimuli for Native Americans, and it enables Energy Transfer Group to significantly extend its reach and anticipated growth into a very exclusive market in need of power generation."
