Select Energy licenses Caminus Gas, Power, Risk, and Analytics products

NEW YORK, May 20, 2002 -- Caminus Corp., a provider of software and strategic consulting services to energy market participants, recently announced that Select Energy, the unregulated wholesale marketing subsidiary of Northeast Utilities, has licensed a full suite of Caminus Gas, Power, Risk, and Analytics software products.

Select Energy, which is one of the largest energy suppliers in the Northeastern US, licensed the Zai*Net, Analytics, Weather Delta, Gas Master, Aces, and Front Office software systems. Select will be using this full suite of integrated products to achieve enterprise risk management and straight through processing of power, gas and complex structured transactions.

Select Energy is the latest in a series of energy industry leaders to license the full suite of Caminus products for analytics, trading, transaction management, and physical operations. Among the other customers that have licensed the full suite of Caminus products in 2002 are Emera, Exelon, and PG&E in North America and Shell Trading and Delta NV in Europe.

"Caminus is delighted to develop a long-term partnership with Select Energy, which is one of the leading and fastest-growing wholesale energy marketing companies in North America," said Caminus COO John Andrus. "Despite the spotlight currently being focused on the energy trading markets, we continue to see the industry's leaders turning to us to solve their enterprise-wide business challenges. In our view, agreements like this one are indicators of both the underlying health of the trading markets and the success of our strategy as the only full service provider of software for analytics, trading, physical operations, and transaction and risk management."

Select Energy currently serves over 5,000 megawatts of peak load in New England, and Northeast Utilities supplies power to 1.8 million customers in Connecticut, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. Select will employ Caminus products to schedule power into PJM, ISO New England and New York ISO, as well as to manage its purchasing and transportation of natural gas. In addition, Select will use Caminus software to manage enterprise risk and conduct sophisticated analytics across its trading and marketing operations.
